Fair Play Ireland – No licences for new oil and gas exploration projects
In February 2023, Ireland approved a ban on licences for new oil and natural gas exploration.
Ireland became the 2nd country in Europe and the 4th in the world to do this.
In September 2023, Ireland’s top planning body refused permission for a major new Liquefied Natural Gas terminal. This is called putting your money where your mouth is.
Unfortunately, our closest neighbours the UK and the USA are backtracking on commitments made to stop new projects. They have backtracked for politics sake, rather than any other reason.
Fair play Ireland. Leading the way for the world again.
